Clumsiness, stinginess, and phone addiction
Lots of posts about phone usage and phone addictions this week. Its something I’ve been struggling with for a while now but seems to have magically cured itself this week.
How? Overestimate your ability to carry a plate of food, a glass of water, and your phone all in one hand with groceries in another.
My phone broke last Tuesday. The screen’s broken, the SIM card doesn’t work. Some of my friends I haven’t talked to are starting to worry that I’ve died. Can’t use reddit, can’t play chess, can’t doomscroll, can’t text, can’t call. Is email still a thing people use to talk to each other?
I was so antsy last week, I kept reaching for my phone only to realize that it doesn’t work. I have an old replacement phone that lets me send a message or two before it randomly shuts down.
I keep going back and forth on ordering a new phone, you know the new iphone costs $1400! Who has that kind of money for something that dies in 4 years!
I feel cut off without having someone to talk to or text. I have no idea what’s going on in the world. But at the same time I feel lighter. And my mind feels clearer. I don’t see myself buying a new phone for another month. I was looking at phones all weekend but everything sucks. Plus, I hate spending money on myself, things don’t feel justifiable anymore.
Any way, that’s the cure for phone addictions. Break your phone and convince yourself there’s no point in spending money on anything that isn’t a bare necessity for survival.
