Where's the fun in that?
How often do we make the fun choice?
I work in tech, and everything is supposed to be logical, all the tradeoffs need to get discussed, elbows need to get greased, and AIs get consulted etc etc. People always talk about taking the boring route because boring is good. For whom? You want to log into work, spend 8 hours just looking at boring foundations and adding a small brick to the great boring wall?
The software industry has shown us lately that corporate doesn’t care about what you do as long as it gets done. In fact, there’s absolutely no thinking around long term impact, so why should you choose to make things boring for the next person? There’s a popular saying that you should write code assuming the next person to read it is a psychopath. But its also likely that its someone new to the industry, with the vigor of youth. Why not paint them a masterpiece?
After all that’s said and done, we spend our limited time in everything we do. So why not make it fun?
